//A Superhit Telugu film, Ganesh, which exposed irregularities and poor medical facilities at government hospitals, drove Ravinuthala Lalitha in real life to secure the top rank in the medicine stream of EAMCET. She had decided to study medicine when she was in Class X.

``I cannot tell the exact reason for choosing the course. But I can say one thing: the superhit Telugu film, Ganesh, had an impact on my mind.

The film exposed the poor medical facilities at government hospitals and the corruption and irregularities there,’’ she said.

Another motivation is that all members of the family are in the medical profession. Lalitha’s father, Dr RV Kumar, is working as a cardiac surgeon at the Nizam Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) and her mother R Aruna is a clinical pharmacologist at the Osmania General Hospital.

Her brother, Srinath, is studying third-year MBBS.

``Though my parents are busy with their regular duties, my brother has encouraged me to do well to secure the top rank in the medicine stream.

He has even sacrificed his studies to spend time with me teaching me various critical subjects. Lecturers also helped me out. Weekly tests at the college made me grow in confidence and filled me with courage to face the EAMCET.’’ The confidence-personified medicine topper wishes to become a neurologist.//
