I used to be a serena hater for life until '10 australian.. but the way she battled henin in australian.. man.. down first set.. broken twice in the second already.. still she hold the nerve and came back .. miracle of all miracles.. she got a lions heart.. v-man: jankovic ground strokes super smooth! backhand down the line aithe orgasmic  - almost on par with henin's single-hand. she or sammy stosur will have to do the dirty job of taking serena out. finals lo serena ni beat cheyalante major miracle required. my order of favorites = dementieva, jankovic, schiavone, serena/stosur. dementieva ki decent serve unna, she would have had 4-5 slams by now. her serve is even worse than mine. ground game too much untundi. super clean hitting. not as graceful as jankovic, but more devastating. btw, jankovic and dementieva are namesakes.  @raju: lol! @raju : i know it is cumulative. hence i said it might be a while. consecutive 285, with fed's present form, i would have said never. federer has 2000 at wimbledon + 1000 at cincinnati + 1200 at usopen = 4200 points to defend. during the same period, rafa has like 1500 points to defend. it is almost a given that fed will not be no.1 again, till atleast the end of USopen. soderling has to get through berdych, and i hope and expect he will, but berdych has talent by the tonnes. the good news for both of them is that rafa's top-spin will be right in their strikezone.... bad news = it is clay and rafa on clay = a total beast! i am gutted as a fed-fan, but better lose early at french rather than wimbledon or USopen and better to lose to soderling than to rafa again. fed had his chances, he just refused to take them. credit to soda-boy. he's beaten the 2 best clay-courters of this decade and the 2 best players of this decade in consecutive years at phillipe chatrier. beating fed in a grandslam is as good as winning the slam for more than 5ys. the last time a guy who beat fed at a slam and did not win the slam = kuerten in 2004 frenchopen. rafa must be practicing his boxing moves to eye of the tiger music - this is revenge time. soderling-rafa final would provide so much drama and theater. fed might lose no.1 ranking on monday if nadal wins french open. fed will also be 1week short of pete's record of 286 weeks. given that nadal has few points to defend from now on, pete's record might stay there for a while. fed complicated things for himself today, but soderling definitely had a big say in that. onwards and upwards for roger. v-man: the way soda is playing, errors are bound to happen. he has hit 6 double-faults, but if he doesnt keep hitting the 2nd serve hard, fed will make him pay real fast. soderling doesn't have the defensive game to beat fed. offense is his only way out and he has done that really well so far. stan is a french open jr champ, btw..... something federer is not. but it is too crowded at the top now. stan is a real hardworker and if things fall in place he can make top10, but top 5 is not going to be easy. i dont think fed really cares much about the masters. for him it is slams now and no.1 and rafa-fed h2h unlikely to change anytime soon. djokovic has a better chance of turning around his 6-13 record against nadal because a) his game matches up better, against nadal due to the double handed backhand b) they are the same age, and unlike federer is not approaching end-game in tennis anytime soon. last year, when rafa was in a slump, roger met him 0 times on the fall hardcourts. during that time joker met rafa 3 times and banged him like a drum to lift his record from 13-3 to 13-6. during roger's slump rafa met fed 5 times and won all 5 times to pull from 8-6 to 13-6. that is just how the cookie crumbles. soda comes firing after the rain break! gut check time for roger. soderling actually is playing better than he did all tournament. i did not see that coming. well played soda pop roger pull up your socks. lets go 5.Sterility is hereditary. When playing against fed, no matter how good you play if you cant control the unforced errors, you are done. If you have 30 winners against feds 15 but commit 40 unforced errors - whats the point.. Soderling need to control these errors, if at all there is a chance to win.. Rafa is commiting too many unforced errors.. I felt Wawrinka has good chance to become on of the top3 players. He almost got the second set against fed but one minor error, cost him the set. He got clean shots, great backhand and good first serve. Hopefully he tunes himself to become #1 swede instead of #2.. nevertheless, this match deserves to be a final. they are playing some super high quality tennis. fed, rafa and soderling have played the best tennis so-far in this french. great match. i would have cheered for sodelring against anyone but roger. super point on set-point. federer almost weaved his magic to get that set, but soda says not yet. that shot by federer - the smash from the stands is no fluke. he has done it quite a few times. it is a shot only roger plays with such consistency and authority. ipc: wozniacki is like murray. too passive with her tennis. she cant hit a down the line shot to save her life.... luckily she is not on the atp tour, so she still has hope of winning a grandslam. schiavone - dementieva should be awesome. super game, both have got. soda boy has won 1 set in first 11 matches against roger. at last year usopen he won his 1st set. then he beat roger in abudhabi exhibition but he is 0-12 against roger. last year, he lost only to roger in french, wimbledon and usopen. it is a safe thing to say he would have won one of those slams for sure but for Roger. i think roger should clean this up in 4. he has got just too much variety to let soderling tee off like he did against rafa last year. berdych has won the 1st set 6-3. fed, if he gets to the final would have played two of the guys who hit the flattest of balls, before facing upto rafa's insane top-spin. not good prep at all. he should pray for lot of rain on saturday so that rafa's top-spin gets negated by the damp conditions.
