856 Villages in Darkness  లైలా తుఫాను సృష్టించిన బీభత్సంతో కోస్తా జిల్లాలు వణికిపోయాయి. మొత్తం తొమ్మిది జిల్లాల్లో ఆస్తి నష్టం అపారంగా ఉన్నట్లు ప్రాధమిక సమాచారాన్ని బట్టి తెలుస్తోంది. కాగా ఇప్పటివరకూ నెల్లూరు, గుంటూరు, ప్రకాశం జిల్లాల్లో తుఫాను కారణంగా మరణించినవారి సంఖ్య 10కి చేరింది. లైలా తుఫాను దెబ్బకు రాష్ట్రంలో ఇప్పటికీ 856 గ్రామాలు పూర్తి అంధకారంలో ఉన్నాయి. ఇక దెబ్బతిన్న విద్యుత్ ఉప కేంద్రాలు 112 వరకూ ఉన్నట్లు ప్రాధమిక సమాచారం. ప్రకాశం జిల్లా తీర ప్రాంతానికి చేరువలో లైలా తుఫాను తీరం దాటడంతో ఒంగోలుపై దాని ప్రభావం ఎక్కువగా పడింది. ఒంగోలు చుట్టుప్రక్కల ఉన్న 25 కాలనీలు నీట మునిగాయి. అదేవిధంగా ప్రకాశం జిల్లాలోని ఉప్పు మడులతోపాటు తీరంలో చేపల వేటకు ఉపయోగించే వలలు, బోట్లు సముద్రపు అలల ధాటికి కొట్టుక పోయాయి. దీంతో జాలర్లు భోరుమంటున్నారు. తుఫాన్ తీరం దాటినప్పటికీ మరో 24 గంటలు దాని ప్రభావం ఉంటుందనీ, వాతావరణ శాఖ తుఫాన్ హెచ్చరికలను ఉపసంహరించుకునే వరకూ శిబిరాల్లో తలదాచుకుంటున్న ప్రజలు అక్కడే ఉండాలని మంత్రి ధర్మాన చెప్పారు. ప్రకాశం జిల్లాలో భారీ నష్టం వాటిల్లిందని సమాచారం అందటంతో జిల్లాలో సహాయక చర్యలకోసం 400 పారామిలటరీ దళాలను తరలించారు. శుక్రవారం ముఖ్యమంత్రి రోశయ్య ఒంగోలులో ఏరియల్ సర్వే చేపట్టనున్నట్లు మంత్రి ధర్మాన తెలిపారు. ఇక లైలా తుఫాను కారణంగా విశాఖ, తూర్పు గోదావరి, పశ్చిమ గోదావరి, కృష్ణా, గుంటూరు, నెల్లూరు జిల్లాల్లో పంట నష్టం భారీగా జరిగినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. రబీ సీజన్లో చేతికి అందివచ్చిన పంట నీటపాలైందని రైతులు ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. ప్రభుత్వం తమను తగు విధంగా ఆదుకోవాలని వారు కోరుతున్నారు. First you and the members of your family must have complete awareness of this threat of nature. You should take refuge at the strongest part of your home like where you have the concrete columns . Don't stand beneath ceiling fans and chandeliers which may fall down When the strong wind blows cover yourself with pillows and bed sheets to reduce the physical injury. Avoid phone as there will be lightning If there are trees near your house, make sure that they are strong enough and if not then stay in rooms away farthest from the trees. Stock up on canned foods and large containers of bottled water if possible. Fill the bath with water; you could need it. If a serious cyclone hits, you'll have no fresh water or power and no sanitation. Sorry to be indelicate here, but buckets and lots of very highly waterproofed packages of toilet rolls are an excellent idea, stored in a safe place. If you've an under-bath cupboard, that's ideal; otherwise just use your imagination. Make a little waterproof package of things which are important to you, such as photographs and other personal items. A first aid kit is a good idea. Have spare torches and radios. Use shoulder straps or, especially, backpacks; don't assume suitcases and handbags will stay in your hand if you're heading for shelter later than you should've. They possibly won't. Keep a stock of torches, portable radios and batteries in your home and backpack so you can keep light available and follow news updates. Don't rely on candles or other flame or fuel driven sources of heat and light. If you can afford a generator, keep one on hand in a very safe place, securely packaged and tied down if possible, for use once the cyclone has passed. Finally, be aware that when the wild winds and rain settle, this is not the time to go outside and check on things. You'll be in the eye of the cyclone and it will be gathering itself up for another bite. Never leave shelter until the cyclone's done it's circuit and definitely headed off on its way. Don't attempt to drive your car even if you think you can make it to an underground carpark. Don't stay on the street in the open unless there's no other choice, and then get to shelter immediately. And the final precaution. Do not Panic. Remember that out chief minister Rosaiah, Opposition leaders Chandrababu naidu and Chiranjeevi etc have already deputed their party cadre to help you.
