Ruj, Guess it is individual perception.. For me, the way they performed puja in the most traditional format did it... Remember, we drove 7+ hours one-way for this and at the end of puja we felt everybit of trouble was worth it.. I could have done it in my house but will i get the same feeling? NO for me. Its like watching Avatar in dollar cinema than in 3D-Imax theatre. | ||

Germex, Temple charged 51$.. then there is something to pay to priest to your satisfaction with tamboolam.. At the temple it is only three cuts - and more over, you have to perform it.. Then you have to go to barber shop - I went to MetroMale Barbering, #3 Route202/206 North, Pluckemin, NJ 07978 for full tonsure.. which was just 10 mins from temple.. they were good.. | ||

Thanks Mr Hyderabad and others for the pointers... we had a successful trip to NJ for hair offering ceremony. stayed in bridgewater at hyatt.. it was cool.. the suite had full kitchen and offered complimentary breakfast.. and it was just 10 min from temple. - temple is too good.. telugu speaking priest spent close to 30 minutes for hair offering ceremony.. with authentic chants .. our 7+ hour trip was every bit worth for this.. there was abhishekam being performed that day but could not stay long as we didnt have breakfast that day and kids were tired.. but the whole chanting, devotion of devotees, the way priests making devotees chant ashtotharam (?) is really great.. NJ residents are lucky. Found a barber shop nearby and with great difficulty completed the total tonsure of baby.. for some reason the baby didnt co-operate here :-( - visited the following restaurnets in North Brunswick: abhiruchi, dosa grill and paradise.. + Abhiruchi is let down.. in my opinion, to gauge any south-indian restaurent sambar and chutney have to be perfect... Sambar has no aroma and chutney is very dull like the one we get in north-indian restaurents.. Idli is not soft.. Rava dosa is so so; Mysore masala dosa is not impressive - the potato filling is bland.. Mutton biriyani tasted like basmati rice mixed with goat curry.. All in all, disappointing experience.. Chicken 65 was good.. I am not impressed with sweets also.. + Dosa grill had better dosas than abhiruchi.. + paradise is okay.. had apollo fish .. though fish tasted fresh, there was hint of sweetness which was turnoff.. + for me, the food at temple canteen has no competetion... hands-down, the best. Just for the food there, I feel like making another trip.. i never had upma that made me feel like i was in heaven... hatsoff to the cooks there.. we had pongal, pulihora and pesarattu-upma.. yummy!!! masala-dosa was not impressve.. but I can live with upma for my whole life.. madras cofee was so so.. i prefer stronger one.. but its okay.. did i say I can live with upma for my whole life?!?! ;-) yummy again! - Patel bros was cool.. bought many priya mixes and ready-to-cook stuff.. disappointed for not finding gongura and dosakaya but was told it is not the season yet.. - driving: it seems everyone on the road is in hurry.. I see signs that says "road work ahead; speeding fines doubled".. but no one seem to bother them.. every one was just zooming past me.... but it seems every point-of-interest is far apart from each other.. this may be because i got used to montreal where everything is in one place... - shopping: mostly at bridgewater mall... not much of sale.. saw aabhushan while going to north brunswick but just drove along :-) as if it is yellow light... |
