Geetanjali reflects genuine love and give generation where innocence existed.. YMC reflects depraved Fxxx and Forget generation where individuality exists.. The soothing numbers of Geetanjali cannot be compared to the numbing cacophony of YMC.. | ||

I agree. The reason for getting that impression was NC's job in YMC was more easier compared to that of NAg in Gitanjali. NC's role in YMC requires under play without much dramatic elements. Where as Nag's role was more emotional and demanded more varied expressions. Old ID Rocky | ||

It is amazing to see 1. Both Gitanjanli and YMC were directed by a Tamilian.2 2. Hero - father and son 3. Heroine has more importance in both the movies and herione got more attention. I am not denying the importance of Nag and NC. Both Nag and NC did very good job. 4. Music by IR and AR both from Tamil 5. Photography same as 4. Old ID Rocky | ||

Some how Tamil directors have some thing in them they pull this off. Starting with Maro Charitra, then Mouna Geetham, Mouna Raagam, Seetha koka chiluka, Hrudayam, Gitanjali, YMC etc. Whenver we see a sensational love story, it got to be directed not by a Telugite, not Hindi guy (North Indian), but it got to be by only a Tamilian. There is factor 3. cinematography. PC Sriram was lot better than Menon. Storywise YMC was better. Music - Dont even think about comparing them. The reason for comparing these two movies is both are path breaking love movies. As we know Gitnajali was apparently more successful at the box office compared to YMC, though YMC got critical acclamation. So now look at the reasons for the success of Gitanjali compared to YMC. I am not denying the moderate success of YMS and at the same time and I am not of the opinion that Gitanjali was a super duper hit. Here is the comparison: 1. Mani inserted some nice commercial elements that go well with all kinds of audience. There is lot of light humor in this movie, especially in the first half. YMC is a serious movie. 2. Music – I admit AR Rehman did a phenomenal job in YMC, but it was nowhere near that of Gitanjali both songs and BGM. Gitanjali music was a big hot even with masses.
