Chiru blames Naidu for wooing PR cadre Special Correspondent Calls it a shameless act and a resort to cheap tactics PR chief asks TDP, Congress to woo people with public-friendly policies PR is creating new bodies in each district to strengthen itself, he says TIRUPATI: Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi has gone hammer and tongs at his TDP counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly poaching in the PR to woo cadres into his party. It is shameless and mean politics, he said and advised the TDP to go to the people and try to win them into its fold with its policies and programmes and not to resort to such cheap tactics. Chiru who represents Tirupati in the Assembly arrived here on Monday on a two day visit after a long gap, used the occasion to renew his relations with the cadres and his voters as well. Addressing the district party meeting for the first time after a 30-member new district body was constituted, the actor-turned-politician looked upset with the alleged poaching of PR cadres by the TDP top-brass. “I know that politics is no longer the field of virtuosos, but I did not expect that it would stink so much with political dishonesty and intrigues, he said and charged that the TDP top-brass was throwing lucrative baits before the PR cadres to hook them to their side. Chiranjeevi cited in this connection the specific case of the Hyderabad city PR chief Feroz Khan to entice whom into the TDP fold, a city-based woman TDP leader had got him over phone and made Naidu speak to him. He criticised that Congress was also not lagging behind in the ‘dirty game' and charged it of employing similar tactics to make some ‘fence-sitters' in the PR to cross the floor. He admitted that the PR has become a bit weak and attributed it to his taking into the party some leaders without proper screening. Before we could realise, it was a bit late, he said and pointed out that it was the reason why he is now constituting new bodies in each district to restructure party. ‘Precious time wasted' He also regretted the much of precious time in the Assembly was being lost because of the unending blame game between Chandrababu and Co. and Rosaiah & Co. when burning issues such as price rise, law and order failure, delay in the drought and flood relief works, execution of irrigation projects and so on cried for attention. The situation should change at least in future, he said. |
