I dont think anyone was denied based on the caste In order to receive spiritual education, the requirement is that the student shall not take tamasik foods like meat / alcohol And guru should be convinced of the student's jigyasa and respect towards wisdom Obviously it was easy for brahmins. But the others were never denied of education just because they are not born in upper caste | ||

we all root for the under dogs, that is how the weaker get stronger, and the stronger get weaker. I see it is a cycle, as one group gets weaker, sympathizers grow for that group, and slowly this group gets stronger. @coke culturally - religion is a big part of the the Hindu life and it has always been I believe being born in different strata of the society should not subject one to such measures where you are not supposed to enter premises of places of worship. Till date this problem has not been eradicated. Generations have been deprived of opportunities in the name of untouchability and this includes education. economically - you are right. The ruling lords of the land could have had a say in which part of the society progresses. If you deprive people of owning land , cut down their resource usage how can you expect them to uplift themselves. India was/is not a land of barbaric tribes where you can expect this survival of fittest concept. As a civilization, we have come a long from the that. I wonder how many from the culturally rich or economically ruling communities manned up, instead of playing the hot potato. | ||
