Missed this post. Just looked in amazon for a brief preview. Its a big book. Will definitely try at some point but definitely not now. there were technologies even before current science and technology.....before there used to be diversity in technology based on local conditions and man was not replaced by machines.....that technology was human centric.....current technologies consumes huge amounts of non-renewable energy , it suits and favours capitalistic greed and centralised administrative structures...it thrives on standardisation killing diversity....replaces man with machine and treats him as an economic animal...even today if fossil fuels are not availabe...it's very difficult to sustain current structures....

Well, you still included technologies ...where would you get technologies without science ? I think we are going around in circles. The possibility that we may be on the wrong path can also be evaluated and ascertained only by scientific measurement - that is the evaluation, correction and evolution method that science provides ... If the answer was already known and defined - why would there be so much effort put to going the wrong way ? Does not make logical sense to me atleast.

GEB is a monster of a book close to 1200 pages and u need a very heavy science background to assimilate the first 3 chapters alone...so any one who says they finished it in 2 months in plainly lying.... it took a comp sci (AI) guy I know 4.5 months to read, understand and comment on it...It took me 6 months...well, that is when u talk on tha back of knowing...charlatanism costs nothing | ||

there were traditional health systems even before the science in current form....we can say there was no or minimum water pollution before industrial revolution....rivers could recycle themselves....communication at today's level is necessary because of the current economic and administrative structure... communication means appropriate to the time were always available throughout human history
i can say people could eat and drink well in past before capitalism and so called scientific revolution than today...today all elements are polluted(earth,water,air, fire)

I disagree... Vaccinations have eradicated so many diseases - has that not helped the poor? Clean accessible water, communication all these have made a huge difference... Where is the evidence that says life was better before science (if there was ever such a time) ? Is that not just wishful thinking ? Firstly Let me wish all of you a Happy Ugadi. I am just back from india after a well deserved vacation and so i was not able to contribute to the discussions here. I did read about the news in my favourite site couple of hours ago. It goes without saying that what we know about human evolution is just what we discovered until now and there might be many more mysteries that might unravel in the years to come.
