but u have test one by one...first replace 8080 with 12001 and then try telnet.after that kill the session...change the port number and then start the server...test...kill the session....and so on. max u can try is only one port at a time. if you want to test multiple ports then u need to copy the whole directory and change the port accordingly. నన్ను ఇన్వాల్వు చేయకండి సార్ | ||

FW group ni clearga adugu e ports open chesaro ani, like SSH/FTP/TELNET/NTP, ma company unless you ask they don't open such ports. if it soalris 10, try as someone said, check netstat -a and see what ports are in listen state. ayuna mundu nuvvu ssh or telnet chesi/ FW group ni lin elo petti asalu traffic velutuna leda b/w those two systems mundu adi choodu. leda routes add cheyyu, ports can be dealt later,first both system should be talking each other. same VLAn lo vunao ledo adi kooda choodu. | ||

just install any server...like apache http or tomcat (tomcat is the ez one). unzip the binary and start the server...it should be listening on 8080 by default. then from the other system try "telnet xyzservername-where-tomcat-running 8080" download tomcat from http://archive.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-5/v5.0.28/bin/j akarta-tomcat-5.0.28.zip unzip and run the "startup.bat" from bin dir, needs java installed on the machine. నన్ను ఇన్వాల్వు చేయకండి సార్ | ||

Yes. I guess it is a one time requirement, right? Easiest solution - Pick up any tiny 3rd party software program that uses ports and install it on the server and test :-) Wt OS r u using? We have a new system, which is behind the firewall. If any system needs to interact with our new system, security operations team needs to open the ports. They are saying they open the ports. As this is the new system and no software is running, it is not using any ports. If ports are not use then it’s not possible to check the connectivity (telent) between the systems. So I need a program to hold port (i.e use the port) on the new system. Once the program holds the port, we will do the telnet from the other system (old one) for the particular port. So that I can make sure that ports are open across the firewall or not. Hope it will be clear for you.  | ||
