" All the best. Try to prepare properly and try to do atleast 2 long runs like 10 miles before you run the whole half. It will definitely help, otherwise you'll be sore for a week or 2 "

>>>>>> Congrats on the half-marathon. :-) The only time I did a half-marathon, I went in with 1-week notice. I took 3hrs and 12 minutes. I actually ran after a night-out and it was a fun experience as 3 of my other friends too ran that day. A week or so after I had the 1st of many back spasms, and I am quite sure that's not a coincidence. I had to give up playing hockey a short while later as my back really started acting up, if I even had just a short practice.

I am glad, I can still play tennis, but my serve sucks and I feel a twitch in my back if I work a little on my serve. Haven't run more than 2 miles at a stretch since then, but I am sure I log in a decent number of miles on a tennis court, when I play tennis.
A german, an irish man and an american walk into a bar and get treated for minor injuries :-)

Guttonkay:

Goonda, big congrats on finishing the marathon. It's a big deal.

marathon kaadandi, its just half. I am planning to do full marathon this december.

Guttonkay:

I am pretty much a couch to 5k program b'coz I never ran before. the run is in July. So, hopefully I have enough time to prepare. If nothing else it will get me some practice.

I started my training in last august and did first half in december. Its good if your practice enough. You can find tons of schedules on net for novice. you need atleast 12-14 weeks of preparation. atleast 18-22 miles per week run to complete the half comfortably.full marathon is altogther a different animal, you'll start where every ends. full needs a lot of preparation and commitment.

I am signing up for a half marathon. I was never the running kind. I am hoping I can run-walk-limp to the finish line. Wish me lots of luck.

Sri_anji:

brother i think you are taking abt Treadmill speed. If you run 6 mph speed on treadmill is equal to 10 min a mile pace. The winner probably ran at 11mph speed. its incredible. I hope atleast i complete the race in 1.30 hr one day.

folks, i recommend running half marathons, as it helps keep your heart, body & soul healthy and you'll lose tons of fat. This is the best time to start running.

Goonda bedar great work from you. So, what is the max speed that you can run?

6 mph?

To run 10 miles with constant 6mph is too much anipistha undi.

Completed 2nd half marathon yesterday. It was nasty weather with rain from start to end of the run and temperature fallimg from 52 to 38 by the end of the run. I thought of doing 10 min/mile pace, but i missed the time by 5 min. I wanted to complete in 2.10 hr, but completed in 2.15 hr. I bettered my time by 18 mins when i compare to last half marthon(completed in 2.33 hr).

The winner of the race completed in 1.07 hr. it was incredible. I hope atleast oneday i can do in 1.40 hr.

folks, i recommend running half marathons, as it helps keep your heart, body & soul healthy and you'll lose tons of fat. This is the best time to start running.
