ratri cinema chusa,, first time ever ,user ratings for this film are so fluctuating. I guess patriotic americans could not accept the movie even though the movie is a harsh reality. I liked the movie. Go for it if you are interested in politics behind the Iraqi war. |

Yahoo lo oka uncle review..... http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/dfrv?mid=1809976147&uid=OuAP2Nb0 jsa_oC1BdQjDDYA-&s=&i=2&nn=&spl=0&ys=ZbA3hjjiqPNkDFhyAM2bPQ- - Director Paul Greengrass (the Bourne movies) visits the unreality of the Green Zone, Baghdad, circa 2003, to show what it might have meant to our soldiers to be tasked with 'uncovering', (under FIRE, mind you) weapons of mass destruction that appear not to exist. How many of them, I wonder, came home wounded, or in a pine box? The Green Zone has intelligence that WMD exists, but it seems increasingly unreal. But the Green Zone is SO unreal, its about to disband the Iraqi military, the only indigenous force powerful enough to bring some order to what America had just broken. (In retrospect, this little consequence of unbridled arrogance probably cost America 4000 of our soldiers and $800 billion dollars. But 'unbridled arrogance' is what war is all about to its promoters, be they American, Nazi, Japanese, Cambodian, Rwandan, Congolese, etc.) Jason Bourne, uh, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Matt Damon), continually enters supposedly 'iron-clad-intelligence' areas of 'known' Iraqi chemical weapons, only to find they correspond with locations that not only don't contain such weapons, but logically could NEVER have contained them (a public park?). Intent on finding them, despite the intelligence, he pushes further, and makes his own intelligence leading him to an Iraqi general Al Rawi, who may know the truth about the unfound WMD. But the Pentagon intelligence officer Poundstone (Greg Kinnear), who met with Al Rawi before the war on his WMD claims is now intent on killing Al Rawi, and Miller too, if he gets in the way. How good an action movie is this? When the special forces teams are closing in on Al Rawi to assassinate him on Poundstones order, the professionalism and tactical ability on display is so awesome, you find yourself rooting for THEM. (of course, you are really rooting for Millers 'quest for the truth': he wants to take Al Rawi alive, back to Washington). Many people have complained about the overuse of hand-held video: its graininess and excess of motion. True, it distracts from the storytelling. But, more distracting to me, was that the story is told from the point of view of a U.S. solder peripheral to what a monument to American arrogance the Green Zone actually was. Put shortly, the real movie, 'Green Zone', would have to be a tragedy, not an action film. These people made insulated decisions that killed hundreds of thousands of people on the OTHER side of the Green fence: American soldiers and Iraqi's alike. It didn't matter: they were young, well paid, victorious, and in charge. The actual 'Green Zone' is the story of a tragedy. But this action flick is so well told, it feels actual. I believe this about war: our soldiers duty is to fight on the front line. OUR duty as citizens is to draw that line in the right place. Anyone who thinks the Iraq line was drawn in the right place, by our government, our media, and by over half our public, is in serious denial, and is probably among the 'true believers' in American Empire judging this film an 'F'. Let it go, folks. You won Iraq. You lost America. Tough. |
