are you referring to special relativity only...if time dilation is principle contribution of special relativity we can see that from lorenz transformation and independent nature of speed of light itself | ||

The champion insight of einstein was to use Lorentz transforms between inertial frames and extend it to non inertial reference frames and tying them together to show that Magnetism etc are pseudo forces.... | ||

i think he just found these transformations are applicable to physical space once the michaelson-morley experiment results were known..since relativity of time is one of the starting assumptions for lorentz transformation it was obvious that time is relative if we assume what is true for light is applicable to all physical phemomenon | ||

These transformation were there since larmor era, Lorenz redefined them. but Einstein was the one who constructed a theoretical framework based on what were seen as mathematical !! ------- Only seven people have looked The Stig straight in the eyes.
