TDP and its ally eenadu thought that by have more overall percentage of votes one would win the elections. Hence eenadu tried its best to promote the vote percentage. After the elections eenadu blamed the people and called them "badddhakastulu" for not voting by looking at the marginal difference in percentage of votes between winning Congress party and losing TDP.

The fact of the matter is in elections one should not calculate the Average by "Arithmetic Mean" which is skewed towards larger numbers but one should calculate Mode which gives the frequently occurring number.

E.g. Given below is the table of Vote percentage each party obtained in 3 constituencies, assuming there are only 3 constituencies and only 3 parties.

You can see that though Party 2 got highest Average vote percentage 43.33 it only own 1 constituency of 3, whereas Party 1 though got an Average percentage of 30 own 2 constituencies of 3 hence own the elections.
Here the Mode i.e., frequently occurring percentage is 40. (Model Average is 40)

Constituency 1Constituency 2Constituency 3MeanMode
Party 14040103040
Party 230307043.33333333
Party 330302026.66666667

At least political parties learn the lessons now and concentrate on each constituencies independently not on overall percentages which is misleading.
