I have not seen bradman or Gavaskar play .. and I am told they both are more skillful than Sachin .. but in my opinion .. if there is someone who plays with near perfection .. its none other than Sachin .. more than anything else .. I like his way of life .. simple, quiet and for some sobre .. yet beyond those boundaries of the stadiums .. he is an everest among mountains .. a pacific among oceans .. a jupiter among planets .. MS: Thanks for that. That was my 1st sachin moment. I dont remember the karachi bloodshed. I saw that knock live. i think it was a 20/20 match (obviously they didn't call it that) India chased around 150 odd, sachin hit 53 in 18 balls, i think. he needed to hit a 4 off the last ball off akram's bowling. he took a single and we lost by 2 runs. the way he whacked qadir was beyond awesome. stuff of legends. warne got manhandled similarly about 10yrs later. All that is gold does not glitter, not all who wander are lost!!! | ||

An Article on a lesser known sachin's unofficial game. ----- Peshawar, 16 December 1989 The crowd was huge, and some of them even had tickets. Many took advantage of the general spirit of friendliness and sat anywhere they could. It is easy to see why the forefathers of the security men at Peshawar could not control the Khyber Pass. Amid the confusion, a legend was born there 20 years ago. He was 16, had almost curly hair, curiosity in his eyes, and steel in his wrists. His treatment of Abdul Qadir is part of folklore now. Sachin Tendulkar played only because it was not an official one-day match, and Kapil Dev was nursing a stiff neck. At that stage there was no plan to play Tendulkar in the one-day tournament at all. But after that he couldn't be denied. Eighteen deliveries changed everything. In that time he made 53 (unbeaten), hitting Mushtaq Ahmed for two huge sixes, and then Abdul Qadir for 27 runs in a single over, with three sixes in a row. There was no wild slogging. When Qadir dropped one short as Tendulkar stepped out, the batsman had the arrogance to go through with his shot anyway. The bat made a lovely arc, and for all we know the ball is still travelling - no one could find it. At the other end was the captain, Kris Srikkanth, no slouch himself. Later that evening he said, referring to the one-day series, "The little bugger must play now." " I think Lara later denied making such a statement. nevertheless, sachin is as close to perfection on a cricket field. he stands alone in how level-headed he remains with all this greatness - credit to the Indian family system, i guess? also, India has been lucky to have stars like dravid, laxman and kumble who are similar to Sachin in their humility and graciousness, though obviously not in stardom. any of these 4 fit the mr. perfect bill, I am wondering any other cricketers who can match them as persons All that is gold does not glitter, not all who wander are lost!!! | ||
