WASHINGTON: In a bid to attract entrepreneurs around the globe, two American Senators on Wednesday introduced a legislation to grant a two-year Immigration US visa to any individual showing that an US investor is willing to invest atleast $250,000 for his/her startup venture. The 'StartUp Visa Act of 2010' if passed by Congress is expected to benefit Indian entrepreneurs the most as maximum number of new ventures in the Silicon Valley is started by Indians. Introduced in the Senate by Senators John Kerry and Richard Lugar, the act is aimed at driving job creation and increase America's global competitiveness by helping immigrant entrepreneurs secure visas to the US. "Creating a new magnet for innovations and innovators to come to the US and create jobs here will offer our economy a double shot in the arm - robust job creation at home and reaffirmation that we're the world's best place to do business," Kerry said. "We should channel the power of innovative thinkers from around the world and US investors towards creating jobs and encouraging economic growth," Lugar said. |
