Wow u've put it very well .....and i mostly agree to it but the reason i say RK was great in the movie coz the way RK potrayed his role ...i mean for one thing the way Hrishikesh ji vizuvalized the character was awesome then Rk jst walked it through so endearingly.....the sequence in which he was diagonsed with cancer and AB gives him the medical term something like lympo sarcoma of the intestine..........."bimari ho tho isi kisi aurath ko hothi tho kahethey ki angrez ko godh ley liya" and there are many more similar heart toching secenes where ur heart beats faster and slower at the same time ,, where u feel funny and sorrow at the same time!! | ||

Rajesh khanna was sooo lucky to get great hit songs.. A few zindagi.. songs from his movies and all of them big hits. zindagi kaisi hain paheli ... zindagi ka safar, hain ye kaisa safar.. zindagi ke safar mein bichad.. (Aap ki kasam) zindagi ek safar hain suhana.. etc etc | ||

Hrishikesh Mukherji one of the best Director of India, simple yet lovable stories anni ayanivi... i totally love his Chupke Chupke, awesome vuntadi ee cinema eppudu time dorikina chudali anipistundi, subtle comedy with wonderful acting by lead actors... Amitab and RK were to play each others roles. but RK was more interested to play Anand and got hold of it. Amitab tried similar role of RK in movie Guddi. But Jaya Badhuri walked away with honours in that movie and he was not effective. Coming back to Anand, you love him and sympathise him for not what he was, but the way Amitabs' character develops the relation with Anand. And as a narrator, his voice does put you into the required mood and his performance was excellent. Both are different types of characters so cannot compare the performace. But when you speak of what you remember when you walk out, I remember Amitabs' outbirst rather than RKs deat ... and also Amitabs' pleasant shock when he hears the voice of Anand in the tape recorder, than RK's voice.
