Leave Muslims alone: MIM Special Correspondent HYDERABAD: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) which has maintained silence on Telangana issue all along came nowhere close to breaking it on Wednesday when the party just said in the Assembly that it was neither opposed to âseparate Telangana nor united Andhra Pradeshâ. The MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi warned parties adopting contradictory stands on Telangana not to force Muslims to take sides. They were free to struggle either for Telangana or Andhra but not at the cost of Muslims. The movements should not take communal colour, he said. The MIM which gave notice of adjournment motion to debate the attack on Muslims for not supporting the separate Telangana agitation at Patangal village of Bodhan mandal in Nizamabad district stalled the proceedings of the House, leading to its adjournment twice, when it was disallowed by Speaker. The House briefly discussed the incident after the Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy convened a meeting of floor leaders during the second adjournment. It was then that Mr. Owaisi made the observation which was responded by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah. The former said he learnt that a boy died and some others were injured in the attack against Muslims at Patangal. Mr. Owaisi asked if supporters of Telangana aimed to get Statehood after killing Muslims. Promising stringent action against culprits, Mr. Rosaiah said a criminal case was booked and the matter was under investigation. |
