Telangana-Seemandhra bhai bhai Chief Minister K Rosaiahâs dinner diplomacy with the party MLAs, ministers, MPs and MLCs on Tuesday night appears to have paid off. The dinner hosted at the Jubilee Hall brought all the party leaders from Telangana and non-Telangana leaders together. They shook hands with one another, cracked jokes and enjoyed the sumptuous dinner together. For an hour or so, they set aside their differences over Telangana issue and displayed their camaraderie, much to the satisfaction of the Chief Minister. Though the MLAs of Telangana and non-Telangana sat in two different groups, former ministers J C Diwakar Reddy and K Jana Reddy saw to it that they mingled together later. All of them came to an understanding that they leave the Telangana issue to Sonia Gandhi and work together till such time sinking their differences. That is the Congress! | ||

Kodandaram is a Hitler: Komatireddy Now that the Congress has more or less come out of the Telangana Joint Action Committee, it has started attacking JAC convenor Prof M Kodandaram branding him as the TRS âpostman.â While it was Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar who had attacked Kodandaram on Tuesday, it was the turn of minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to take him to task. He described Kodandaram as Hitler for dictating terms to the MLAs, MPs and MLCs and asking them to resign. âWho is Kodandaram to tell us to quit? We have our own strategy in the best interest of Telangana and the party. He is making statements at the behest of the TRS,â the minister alleged. Venkat Reddy took exception to Kodandaram giving a call to the Telangana activists to do âsocial boycottâ of the MLAs and lay siege to their residences demanding their resignations. âIt is highly unbecoming of a professor like Kodandaram to give such a call. Will he take the responsibility for the consequences if our party workers counter attack the Telangana activists?â he asked. | ||

Injured students now look for ways to evade arrest TNN, Feb 17, 2010, 03.30am IST HYDERABAD: Students who sustained injuries in police lathicharge on the Osmania University campus on Sunday and were admitted to the Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital are now wary of getting discharged. They fear the police would arrest them owing to charges as serious as attempt to murder filed against them. On Tuesday afternoon, one such student who is an OU Joint Action Committee member and had been taking refuge in the hospital in the guise of undergoing treatment for a minor leg injury he had suffered during the police lathicharge, was allegedly manhandled by the Task Force personnel near Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. Another student, who did not wish to be identified, claimed that as soon as he stepped out of the hospital, he was nabbed by police personnel in plain clothes. However, he managed to escape from their clutches. Due to fear of arrest, some OU students, though declared fit for discharge, preferred to stay in D D Hospital for some more time. âThere was an attempt to arrest a student from the hospital by a few policemen in plain clothes while he was stepping out even on Tuesday morning. Hence, I chose to remain in the hospital to evade arrest,â said an OU JAC member at D D Hospital where presently six students are undergoing treatment. Other students also added that due to inadequate facilities, they preferred hospital to the OU campus. The police has slapped attempt to murder cases on most of the students who participated in the protests. One more student who had suffered a leg injury during the lathicharge on Monday was admitted in Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital on Tuesday. Currently, two other students are taking treatment at Poulomi Hospital, A S Rao Nagar and one more female student at Aditya Hospital. One student, Bhaskar, who suffered a severe head injury, was shifted to Yashoda Hospital for a brain CT Scan. Meanwhile, help came pouring in from all possible quarters for the injured students of Osmania University at the hospitals on Tuesday. Locals and a few professors who visited them went about distributing eatables and offered even financial assistance. Packets of fruits and juices along with breakfast was distributed by local residents of the area. Further, at Manikeshwar Nagar, near the Tarnaka gate of the campus, locals as well as research scholars of OU staying in the area set up a food court for the students. Medicos from Osmania General Hospital too came to the rescue of the students. With the University Health Centre dysfunctional, two rooms in the âBâ Hostel of the campus have been converted into clinic where emergency first aid is being provided to the injured. | ||

Kavitaâs Search For Suicides Itâs a known fact that all students suicides in Telangana area are not for the cause of Telangana. Many students are committing suicides because they are pressurized due to financial or other psychological reasons. But the TRS and its allies are hell bent on projecting these suicides as deaths of students for the cause of Telangana. KCRâs daughter Kavita is making sure that she has all information of student suicides so that she can project them as suicides for the cause of a separate Telangana. Many cases have come-up where relatives of those dead are being forced to declare that their son or daughter has died for the cause of the new state. These relatives are being lured with money also. Dharna In Front Of Skandagiri Temple TRS party workers say a religious leader has no right to hurt people of any region; forcing the seer to cover his earlier statement up 16th Feb, 2010: Activists of the Telangana Rahstra Samithi are staging a dharna and burning an effigy in front of the Skandagiri temple in Secunderabad, in response to Swami Jayendra Saraswathi's opinions on the Telangana issue. The Skandagiri Murugan Temple in Padmarao Nagar is frequented by the Hindu pontiff. The TRS is demanding that Jayendra Saraswathi take back his statements on the state staying united. Agitators at the venue say he is a religious leader and has no right to speak on the behalf of any particular region and hurting its people. There were 300 students who had lost their lives in the fight for a separate state, and what answer would he give them, they asked, going on to accuse him of being a fake swami. Jayendra Saraswathi immediately clarified that he was only talking about the benefits of staying united and that he never said there should not be a separate Telangana. He said his statements were only in reply to those who kept asking him what his opinion on the T issue was. |
