It was just like any other wintry day in Hyderabad. A cool breeze drifted along the shores of the lake. He was having one of the "casual" outings with his mates. In one hand, he held a sprite can spiced with some vodka while he stretched his legs on one of the half immersed rocks. He cussed at himself one more time for not being able to swim so that he could join his buddies. From the corner of his eye, he saw someone walking along the path next to the rocks. She had a leisurely gait but looked as if she was looking for someone. As she passed by him he glanced away from her but not before he caught her eyes. The look in the eyes suddenly made him feel vulnerable or was it the alcohol? He had no answer but he could not help himself in trying to look away from her. She returned a smile for all the attention he was paying to her. Perhaps, that is what beautiful girls can do at best in situations like these. She continued walking. He felt lonely and his heart cried for more of her. He wanted to just say "Hi". Perhaps add a few more seconds to the wonderful feeling he was in. Instinctively, he got up and started to walk towards her. He did not notice where he was sitting. That the rocks were covered green was secondary. As he set his foot forward, he slipped and fell into the water. His got hit on his head as he continued to slip into the cold water. He could feel himself gulping down water as he gasped for air. And suddenly he remembered those eyes. It made his heart feel warm. The fear of death was overtaken. From somewhere he heard his friend call out his name - "Shiva!" But he felt breathless again. There was this huge fear of losing her. Not being able to spend time with her before he dies. Suddenly he felt the noose around his neck loosen up, water burst out from his nose, he was choking badly. He was in a brightly lit room. The lights almost blinded him He then realized that he was being water boarded. He was being tortured by some people who wanted answers to questions he did not know But why me? Why have I done?Where is she? What happened to him? | ||
