Problems in an Urban Health Center in Rashtra Rajadhani. 1). Salaries for staff are trivial. A senior staff nurse is offered a meager 3000/- per month. Moreover, no salaries paid from last 6 months. So, almost no staff attends the duty. Medical operator visits the hospital once in a week. 2). The hospital is supposed to be run 24/7. On a very good day the doors are open for a good 7 hours only from10am to 5 pm 3). Well, there is no water facility (for drinking as well as for usage). 4). Operation theatre is defunct since 2006. No surgeries/deliveries done. 5). 10 beds that are like death beds to support any emergency. Your guess is right. No patient has any guts to get admitted. So, no in-patient from last 3 years. 6). Worst condition of the toilets. Surroundings are very bad dumped with lot of Hospital wastage and rubbish in general. Hospital waste management is absent. Wastage dumped in and around the periphery of the hospital. Highly deplorable. 7). Vaccines and tablets are in stock. The pity is we don’t have any to prescribe them and serve them. 8). Power (current) bill not paid from last one year 9). No single ASHA volunteer, but as per NRHM rules for every 1000 people one ASHA volunteer should be there and for 5000 people one ANM should be there. You cannot judge a Govt. policy looking at individual cases. You need to look at the performance in the whole state. 1. Malaria, Dengue, Pregnancy, etc are among the top causes of death in AP. 2. None of these are covered by Arogyasree. I know these problems are not serious as cancer, heart disease etc. But the point is that more ppl are dying coz of them. 3. You may find thousands of people being helped with Arogyasree. But the ailments covered are only 1-2% of the cause of deaths. I takes time and effort to research all of these details, which people do not have. It is easy to create an impression by getting a heart operation done, than helping 1000 ppl with Malaria. Govt. is playing that game. | ||
