Guttonkay: If you have to end up going to ER, don't give ur info as the contact information. That's what I read elsewhere. giving ur name at ERs make u responsible for payments ani chadivanu. not sure if that's true.

Jalsa:mari pre-existing condition(s) untey?
With pre-existing conditions all bets are off. You just have to hope that they don't need to go to doctor while here. Get full checkup before coming, get all meds, wear shoes at home (no cuts etc for diabetics) and so on. I think only india health network and atlas world have some kind of rider program. Both of them on their website claim that if a situation arises where the pre-existing condition goes into some kind of intense/acute situation, they will cover the doctor visit. peronsally I think it's hogwash. Read both insubuy.com and indiahealthnetowrk.com for more info http://health.indianetwork.org/inf-7May10.htm http://www.insubuy.com/guide/faq/pre-existing-conditions-vis itor-medical-insurance.jsp |

Here are few tips on claims from personal experience - Get a letter from the doctor in India that they have no pre-existing condition as of whatever date (before journey begins) - If you do go to doctor, before your parents leave get a form from the doctor office that says your parents authorize you as the person who can talk to doctor office and insurance company. - Be very, very persistent with ur calls to insurance company. Call every week, take the name and badge number of the person you spoke to and take notes. - If you have to end up going to ER, don't give ur info as the contact information. That's what I read elsewhere. giving ur name at ERs make u responsible for payments ani chadivanu. not sure if that's true. -------------------- mari pre-existing condition(s) untey? |

I personally feel US is better. God forbid they have to go to doctor, it's easier for you to deal with it all if the company is in US. That said, if someone had good experience with dealing with an Indian company, you can go with that. We have taken with india healthnetwork in the past. I know people who took with SRI (before AIG collapse) in the past and with Atlas America via insubuy.com There is also g1g.com that sells various insurance options. immihelp.com forums sections has a huge insurance section. Over there someone named Narendra answers insurance questions. I think he owns insubuy.com good luck. |
