Three is very young in my opinion. My son started learning music when he was 4.5 but started really enjoying it a year later. My daughter learns/sings my listening to her brother, however is not ready yet for formal classes. I would suggest waiting until they are 5.... | ||

My son started lessons when he was 4 and half. His teacher was not ready to accept him, she has a hard rule that kids should be at least five years old so that they should be able to follow instructions. We requested her to see how he does initially, and if he was having hard time following instructions, we will start little bit later. My son did fine from day one. I know she accepted another kid who was four years old, only because the kid was extremely talented. The kid's mom was insistent that she give him at least one lesson, and the teacher could not reject him after the first lesson. The kids was gifted. Three is way too young. The kids should be able to understand the teachers instructions and follow them. At three, I think it is very hard. Then again, there are gifted kids. :-) | ||

3 is too young I think. Some of the kids I know started piano lessons when they were 5/6. I know other kids who started learning carnatic music at 5 and they are doing programs at 7. wow! My imaginary friend went away for an year in search of his brain! | ||
