Has the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee constituted to look into the demand for Telangana demand, more or less decided on bifurcation? The answer appears to be yes, if one were to go by the kind of questions being asked by the committee members during their interaction with the people of various regions. For instance, Committee member and economist Dr Abusaleh Shariff, who toured different parts of Prakasam district, asked the people at Singarayakonda whether they wanted Hyderabad to be given to Telangana state as its capital, or made a union territory in the event of a bifurcation. He admitted that Hyderabad is a beautiful city and everyone, including him, wished to go there to live. The people were surprised with this question. Some of them said most of their children and relatives migrated to Hyderabad to eke out livelihood and were sending them money regularly. If the state was bifurcated, it would affect their livelihood. They said Hyderabad should be either made the capital of Andhra or converted into a union territory, if the Telangana state was to be formed. Shariff hinted that the Andhra region had a lot of potential for growth and in the coming years, it would develop three times more than the present growth due to availability of gas in the seashore, largest seacoast and Vishakapatnam port. He assured that children of the Andhra region will surely get employment in future due to incessant developmental activities. Well, his statements surely indicate a possible bifurcation of AP.
