Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi seems to be of the view that he can get back his heroic image by touring the Telangana districts on the lines of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Chiru told a meeting of the youth wing of the party on Thursday that he would tour Telangana districts from August 31, starting with Khammam. “You are going to see how much fan following I have in the Telangana region. It will be a fitting answer to those who say that there is no PRP in the Telangana,” he told the Yuva Rajyam workers. Perhaps, Chiranjeevi must be feeling that he would get back into news if the Telangana leaders and activists obstruct his tour and create a law and order problem, as they had done in the case of Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra. Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi on Thursday made an interesting statement, while speaking to the youth wing workers at the party office. “You are going to see me in high position very soon, as desired by all of you for the last couple of years. We are going to prove ourselves as potential leaders. Kindly bear with me and continue to extend cooperation to me. I will take care of your interests,” he said, raising many an eyebrow in the party rank and file. Political observers wonder whether Chiranjeevi had struck any deal with the Congress high command during his recent visit to Delhi. According to them, the party might have promised to elevate him to the post of chief minister or at least deputy chief minister, in the event of a political crisis triggered by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by splitting the Congress party. There has been a talk that the Congress high command is planning to groom Chiranjeevi as the star campaigner for the party and in the coming days, he might even be given a high position both in the party as well as the government. All this is subject to the merger of the PRP into the Congress. One has to wait and see whether it is all Chiranjeevi meant by his “high position” statement.
