One more thing to find out... Let's say you do get associated to Hope for Humanity and people start an automated payment to HFH. For any reason if HFH/or CCDB school pulls out - will they communicate that to the donors immediately ? How does that process work ? Razesh, Progress of students ante please think it thru - do you have the same body of students continuing year after year ? Like I said in my previous post, they are under US IRS regulations. To make sure all the funds are being properly used for the stated cause, they have to maintain these student statistics. Also, after 9/11, we all know what is the scenario in US like. US has increased scrutiny of foreign fund transfers exponentially. What is the proof that we are taking funds from Hope for Humanity and not running a mini you-know-what camp? Ittanti doubts anni clear avvaniki records maintenance avasaram kada? As a donor, it is your choice, you can give it to Hope for Humanity, or to Razesh directly anytime you wish. HFH is only one source of funds for school, not the only source. | ||

Overhead nil, every penny we give here goes to the school. Maintenance has to be done well from our school side. Since Hope For Humanity works under USA and IRS guidelines, they are occasionally audited by IRS. For that sake, they have to keep their records clean. So, they track every penny they receive towards donations and every check they issue towards our school. This still has nothing to do with us, it is their process for any chartiable organization they work with.
First di lock chesuko, they will be an org collecting money in US on your behalf. School is still under you and you are responsible for it as usual. You just have to keep records of money you are receiving from them and how you are spending that money. Along with that, you have to show that school is making progress and how many kids it is helping and how kids themselves are progressing, all statistics. Now, you have to decide, 1. the check is going to be coming to you from Hope for Humanity. It could take a bit longer for banks to process these checks than checks from individuals. Find out more about this. 2. She is only going to receive money and send a check to you. She is not going to send reminder emails like you are doing right now. It will be soley donors responsibility to remember and send her checks. Inko vishayam ninnu adugudaam anukuni marichi poya. Why don't we start something like, "adopt-a-day" kind of program? Say, I make a one time donation of Rs. 25K to school, I tell you to sponsor lunch & expenses of School kids on my kids birthday every year. You put that money in fixed deposit and use that interest for that. If we can find 365 donars to fill our school calendar, school is self sustainable, no more need for monthly contributions. What do you think? You already have two deposits on my kids names if you start this program. :-) I don't know if you are familiar with 'Velugu-Veliginchu' program on Maa. I saw about an org called 'Center for Social Service' on this program. A lady started this org after her husband expired and this org are adopts orphan girls. They have this program of sponsoring lunch and dinner in orphanage with a one time deposit of Rs. 30K, you pick the date, they will sponsor annadaanam on your family members name on that day. I was recently contacting them to sponsor an annadaanam and during this enquiry, I came to know about Hope for Humanity and how it is working with orgs like them in AP. Long story short, now let's put this thought to vote and see what all other contributors say. | ||

Dreamcatcher, Good initiative  Infact, it would be good of Ccdb school can be registered as a not for profit org here so people can claim tax breaks - it is that much more money to contribute to the cause... This is the follow up to the thread I posted probably a month ago. I was enquiring about starting an organization. One of the suggestions a friend made was working with an existing org instead of starting a new one. Recently I came across a person who works with Hope For Humanity, and she works with few charitable organizations in India and raises funds here for those organizations. Here is the website of her chapter: http://www.hopeforhumanitymd.org/ One of the things she does is, you can raise funds for individual kids, who are good with education but need financial help, in your towns/villages. Another activity she does is to sponsor schools of your choice provided they meet and maintain certain standards. She was delighted to know about it and was very happy that few youngsters are taking this great cause on their own. She was more than willing to help and asked to write a proposal (saying we would like to sponsor our CCDB school through Hope For Humanity) and submit it to her. She mentioned that we need to maintain school records accurately, like all expenses related stuff, and keep track of kids progress, like, number of kids attending, number of kids progressing to next classes, etc. The way this is going to work is, we all will send checks to her, and she will cut a check to CCDB school/charity org that runs it. Now, let's here feedback on this from all who contribute to CCDB school. |
