DS Blames It On High Command For His Defeat Till the other day, Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas was boasting of his victory in the by-elections in Nizamabad (urban) constituency. Now that he had to bite the dust at the hustings miserably, he is throwing the blame on the Congress high command. DS told the party functionaries at a meeting in Gandhi Bhavan on Monday that he was not at all interested in contesting the elections as he was well aware of the Telangana sentiment sweeping across the region. âI told the high command that I would definitely lose the elections if I contest the polls. But the high command had a different idea. If the PCC president himself hesitates to contest the polls, it will send a wrong signal to the party cadres across the state. Irrespective of the win or defeat, it wanted me to contest,â he explained. The PCC president told the media later that the election results did not mean the people of Telangana had rejected the Congress outrightly. âThey had decided to re-elect the resigned leaders. That does not mean they had rejected the Congress,â he said. |
