My hypothesis: Science can never answer a question beginning with why.. Example: Why did the apple fall down? Ans: Gravitation. In this answer, the actual question is not answered, but generalized to the following question: Why do masses attract each other? And in the process, science answered a lot about how strong the attraction is, what does it depend on, etc etc but the question why still remains.. The folly of mistaking a paradox for a discovery, a metaphor for a proof, a torrent of verbiage for a spring of capital truths, and oneself for an oracle, is inborn in us.- Paul Valery | ||
