Well, I think you guys are right. Chennai consulate may not have the ds-160 information with them.

Ippudey VFS-USA helpline ki call chesaanu. They told me to re-submit the ds-160 application with Chennai as the consulate and bring BOTH confirmation pages and present them to the consular officer. I confirmed if there would be any problem or if i should cancel the current appointment. They said not neccessary, just make sure you have BOTH confirmations with you and present it to the consular officer.

Hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation.

Hyderabad Consulate:

14.What happens to my DS-160 if I select a U.S. Embassy or Consulate where I will be applying for my visa, but end up making an interview appointment instead at another U.S. Embassy or Consulate?

Step 1 on the DS-160 asks you to select the location where you will be submitting your application. In case you select a particular location, but then decide to schedule an interview appointment and apply for your visa at another location, the second location will still be able to use the DS-160 you filled out listing where you originally intended to apply.

i think you can reschedule twice.

Did you save the ds 160 file ? if so, original appointment cancel chesi and malli
at the begining choose chennai and upload the saved file and submit.
