Though modernization and glamour has taken over the Tollywood circuit, it has often been hailed as one place which still gives priority to convention and self discipline. However, it appears that the new breed of stars is creating a new chapter which is not so encouraging for the image of the Telugu cine circuit. Apparently, reliable sources in film nagar have revealed a dark secret. Drugs seem to be the concern which has slowly began to spread its tentacles inside the Tollywood circuit and is making its presence stronger with each passing day. The reasons for getting hooked to drugs looks varied. As per the sex siren Shraddha Das who is lot into parties, personal relations are not that strong in the film industry so there are no one to actually confide in. While the star kids don’t have much of an issue, the problem persists with those who suffer a flop that could ruin their career. Due to this, stress builds up and they get attracted to drugs to let out their pressure. Basically, it is the loneliness factor, as per Shraddha. Another actress adds that usually the easy victims are actresses whose careers are at rock bottom and see no chance of a breakthrough. She reveals that drugs are easily available in pubs and there is a special code language for that. The sex siren Sanjana says that a sagging career leads to severe stress and one tends to get depressed quickly. However, she suggests that there are better ways to handle stress. And then, there is another group of young actors/actresses who think that trying out drugs is more like a fashion and a common practice in high societies. A strong quote is being made of a young actor who is pursuing his engineering but is said to be a serious dope addict. Joining him is said to be another premium league hero who has not been able to do a film since long. New sensational director Sreedhar Reddy opines that it has become a fashion of sorts for the young stars to ape the Mumbai culture and the Bollywood practices. It is more of a style for them than stress but eventually they end up getting hooked to it. On the other hand, veteran actress Jayasudha says that pressure was there even in those days but those who took to drugs were discreet about it. She reportedly said that nowadays it is more for ‘pleasure’ than anything else. Another source reveals about three big stars who are currently going through a rehabilitation program of sorts to get out of that addiction. While the reasons and theories could be many, the ground reality is that drugs are dangerous and if you deem it as fashion then you are making a fatal mistake.
