I guess most of these 26% people are youth who most of the times are preoccupied with their own lives. It happens in India too, but in other areas. I know many people from AP who dont know who NTR was!

big deal, how does it matter, it is history, americans are very good at their professions and work hard, that's all that matters. some americans play stupid like the sardars but they are not truly stupid.

let another 200 years pass and then do a poll in india and see how many remember, people will not remember cos it doesnt matter. USA is a 250 year old democracy, India is only 50 years, still a very young democracy.

As Americans prepare to spend the Fourth of July weekend enjoying the sizzling summer weather while marking this country's independence 234 years ago, a new poll found that a whopping one in four Americans have no clue which country the United States declared its independence from.

In a new Marist College poll released today, a shocking 26 percent failed to identify Great Britain as the country the US colonies fought to gain its independence, CNN reported.
