JKM, Meeku Hindi weak annaru so meeku nachakapovatam understandable My husband liked the movie a lot and also many of our family friends...men included...maybe more of a generation thing than gender IPC, Agree the story lags, and the kitchen mother-in-law confrontation scene was unwarranted melodrama... And the comparison to SLB did cross my mind as I was writing the earlier post - SLB's visuals thrive on contrasts - of color that is ...between the sets and the costumes While Jodha Akbar's costumes had enough pop without popping out of the frames ... Neeta Lulla stuck to the color family of red-green-yellows against similar backdrops -none of the costumes come as a shock to the eye... no electric blue against black or red against sand combinations SLB uses...Both are stunning just in different ways BTW, read Bel Canto by Ann Patchett if you haven't - excellent read | ||

Jodha Akbar movie was not in the range of my expectations...therewas not one single scene the sticks with you once you leave the theatre.. coming to the technical aspects the movie has the visual richness without being an eyesore(SLB should take a leaf out of Ashutosh's book) the story really lagged and I was having a feeling of watching a soap opera ...should have been 30 minutes short especially the cooking episode should be trimmed and the last song dragged the movie even longer coming to the battle scenes not spectacular but good for an indian movie....ARR simply is amazing ...he has become a master of period film music be it a sufi song or a hymn praising krishna marvellous acting was first class Hrithik was a perfect fit so was Ash (never was a fan of her synthetic acting before) overall worth watching once | ||

expected. proved again. I am not wrong in my thinking. BTW I have seen this movie second time in theater yesterday. not because i wanted to. my wife pulled me again. i saw that movie again for my wife. may be again & again. she is going to buy DVD when it release. first time in my US life I have seen a "hindi" movie 2 times in theater. Finally saw the movie yesterday ... late release in our town After a really long time a movie that I thought deserved to be seen on the big screen , the bigger the better The battles had my kids hooked Most of you here are too young to have seen Ben Hur or Ten Commandments on the big screen - but Jodha Akbar reminded me of that eye-popping experience of watching Cecil DeMille's epics unfolding on the screen.. Historical accuracy and story pace aside ... if you look at the movie from pure audio-visual experience ,Jodha Akbar delivers and how !! Nitin Desai's Art Design is spectacular and grand, befitting the period and setting. Neeta Lulla's costumes again fabulous-both mughal and rajput and she brings out the distinctions beautifully in her style of clothes and jewelry... Rehman's music and Javed Akhtar's poetry are a match made in heaven..And when you add a director like Gowarikar, you are transported into the upper echelons of bliss Divine music, lyrics, picturisations and song placement Now the leads - Hrithik is simply fabulous - lives the role - can't imagine anyone else oulling it off the way he did.. Though I am not an Aishwarya fan - I think she did a great job in this movie And they make the romance work..Watch the expressions esp Hrithik's in the their sword fight Like I said , ignore the historical accuracy and go see this on screen as a reminder of what spectacular artistry is | ||

my take...very SLOW and boring (not entertaining at all)..similar to Devdas Ardent fans of Ash/Hrithik can take the close to 4hr show with comfort..Both exposed their skin to the max extent possible. There isn't anything abt history..itz a family drama..abt wht problems a hindu girl wud face..wen married to a Muslim Emperor.. Songs -- only 1 song is catchy(wedding time) .tht too , 1 can njoy only the video...no scope for hrithik to dance in the entire movie.. ppl who rated 4 for this mvie..shud be really crazy(either they are promoters of the mvie in orkut or ...)
