Minimum wage is actually $2.5 an hour for a job with tips. Atuvanti vaatiki 5K tax credit is reasonable.

How can you expect economic growth in the 4th quarter when businesses are on hiring freeze...and unemployment still in double digits....????????????

Hiring picks a cycle or two after market conditions improve, I do not think they go together. Once economic conditions start to stabilize, employers slowly start to remove those hiring freezes, not before.

Jessy:

Well....you gotta fire your full time employees before you hire new part time employees in order benefit from this 5000$ tax stimulus....

I wouldn't recommend anyone to join Ivy league to get such foolish ideas...

He he he. That is a great idea, I never thought of it that way. How about businesses that are not firing anymore but, since market conditions are stabilizing, need to hire new resources?

Isn't $5000 break better than nothing, which is what they get on new hires?

Isn't $5000 break better than nothing, which is what they get on new hires? Hiring is almost on the back burner for all size businesses. If a small business is hiring someone today, they are doing it only if the resource is absolutely necessary. To get a 5000 tax break on that hire is good for that small business.

This idiot Obama is beyond silly......hope those who voted him in are happy. He and his lap dogs in Congress are out in 2010/12

One WSJ analysts says USA has come out of recession some time around last summer and todays economic report says that last qtr has posted fastest growth increase since 2003, the number of people claiming unemp benefits decreased last week.. the only thing that can kill obama's presidency is unemployment.. and with his state of union address he made lot of people happy.. and if he can cut down the unemp in coming months.. then it is not that difficult to keep obama out of office for a next term..

This is what happens when Ivy league lawyers think they can run the country. It costs a lot more than $5000 to hire an employee. Any business owner who is worth his salt will just laugh at this. Let's see,I get to spend $50,000 to hire someone for a $5000 tax credit. IDIOCY. November 2010 cannot arrive fast enough.Wake up idiot obama

You are thinking about $50,000.

But, there are a lot of other jobs (at least 20%-30%) that pays around 20K - 30K in the country.

And for these people, $5,000 does matter.
