Deadline threat ends up in farce It looks like the January 28 deadline fixed by the Joint Action Committee of Telangana political parties is going to end up like all the other deadlines fixed by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao in the past. The Congress high command ruled out taking a decision on Telangana succumbing to deadline pressures. And the Congress MLAs and MPs also have fallen in line. Now, it is certain that the JAC has nothing to do, if the MLAs do not resign if the Centre does not make a statement before the deadline. So, the JAC leaders are now softening their stand. âThe deadline is not for resignations. It is not a threat or blackmail either. We only want the Centre to make a statement fixing a time frame for Telangana process by January 28. If it does not make it, we will have no other option but to intensify the agitation,â JAC convenor Kodandaram said. He is now not talking about social boycott of MLAs who do not resign. TRS former MP B Vinod Kumar also clarified that there was no deadline for Telangana or resignations. âWe have just made an appeal to the Centre to make a statement by January 28,â he said, in a mild tone.
