Rouge Biography Rouge are Legha Joseph 22 studying Economics, Amrita Hunjan 22 studying Dentistry and Laura Reim 21 studying Medicine. They are the biggest-selling female Asian, Arabic, Persian R&B girl group. Riding a blend of pop, hip-hop, urban soul with Arabic, Asian and Persian melodies has taken them to stardom in their niche market. They have managed to appeal equally to there own culture, pop and R&B audiences, blending catchy hooks, bouncy beats and bass with a sassy, sexy attitude. Their image is equal parts style and spirit, bolstered by a flamboyant, sheik wardrobe. As time passes, they are finally becoming well known for their amazing vocal and intellectual talents. NOT JUST A BUNCH OF PRETTY GIRLS! After their star-making first single DON’T BE SHY and self-titled album the girls are working Internationally for their second album. The girls have already collaborated with New York’s finest Juelz Santana and the production talents of Zeus and J-Nas. Rouge was formed in the UK, 2004, when Envy Entertainment their Label/ Management brought the trio together. In short order, they were introduced to locally based producer Zeus (Also part of the Envy camp), They quickly recorded DON’T BE SHY and within months the record was a huge hit from London to Bombay across to New York in their niche market. The video for the sexy, aggressive lead single, established their intelligent, slick fashion sense, and the song became a number one smash hit. The girls couldn’t get a moment of piece at their Universities. Confused with record deals from various record companies in the UK and India the girls decided not to step into the music business full time as they wanted to finish their studies. After a quiet period the girls started to record their debut album whenever they had time in and out of their studies. In October 2005 Mona Records approached Rouge. A London based independent record label that understood Rouge were studying and agreed to invest in the group regardless. But this wasn’t to work full time commitment was needed and Rouge parted company with Mona Records summer 2006. Shortly after the girls were approached by T-Series the biggest Indian record company. Rouge signed a deal in 2006 for the Indian Territory and began recording a few new songs for the region. The video to the title track Eh Papi was shot in (December 2006). However whilst on the sets Rouge were not happy with video direction and costumes. Understanding that India’s a totally different market the girls finished the video knowing it wasn’t something they wanted to be a part of. Rouge are definitely successful, having performed in 12 countries including China, Dubai, Qatar and America but there not stars quite yet.
