Currently there are 100K desi students in the US pop of 300 million and 70K desi students in Australia population of 20 million. Are all the 70K US Visa Rejects? Comparing the populations. The density of the Desi Students is 14 times more in Australia when compared to density of Desi students in USA. You must be talking about your friends who went to Australia.I know a couple of people in the Australia education business.I stand by what i said, while it is true that people who dont get US visa do go to Australia and NZ, Majority of people who go to Australia and NZ never consider the US because of GRE and GMAT being there in the mix. Going to Australia is much more easier than going to an American university. Almost everything is taken care of by the consultant-university nexus, in the case of us, the consultant cannot do everything, like the GRE or GMAT . In the case of australia, very few really bother about letter of recommendations and statements of purpose. | ||

Let the africans come by the tons and take away the blue collar jobs in hyderabad, then you will know. A lot of african students come on government grants or are from well off families, they dont do part time work and take away local blue collar jobs. If a section of the Telanganas can hate on their Andhra Telugu brothers so much, is the similiar thing not possible in Australia due to combination of their jobs being taken away and them getting maligned in a one-sided way in the indian media ? Australia is still a good country, my indian friends in australia mostly have good things to say about them. The media and leadership has to responsibly cover the situation and not create a cycle of hatred similiar to the Andhra-Telangana Issue where they were irresponsible.No violence is justified but just dont take a one-sided view and malign the other side without restraint. If you hate Australia so much,you cannot give threatening statements sitting here. You should look at a solution where attacks on Indians are decreased by strengthening the Indian-Aussie friendship. Students with poor academic track record from Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges go to Oz for Grad courses with No or Low GMAT/GRE scores.I don't want to come across as snooty but the poor standard of Indian students going to Australia is exemplified by the very low percentage of those who actually end up with white collar jobs...post graduation,quite a few end up doing menial jobs at gas stations and restaurants.many of them are badly behaved and are culturally backward...also, as they eat into grassroots/blue collar jobs of Australians, there is a resentment that has built up over a period of time among the lower sections of the aussie society. And even though that does not justify any violence perpetrated against them, there is a lot of soul searching that the Indian community and the Aussie univs who admit them, have to do. Also, OZ just doesnt have the job opportunities like the US, if you want to go for an education it is ok but dont expect to get a return on your investment in Aussie land, you might be disappointed.Im sorry if I offended the sentiments of anyone. | ||

They get the prestige of a foreign degree without much trouble. The Academic bent of these students is minimal. Some of them are troublemakers that bring ill will towards desis. Narrow minded or Frustrated Ozzies will target Indians in general and unfortunately the innocent ones also get caught in this. Supposedly a few students from Delhi,Haryana and Punjab are very Mannerless and Obnoxious giving a poor impression to Aussies of all Indian. To the Americans in the US,An Indian is Soft,Friendly,Polite,Introvertish,Follows the rules and doesn't cause any trouble. The Aussies and Kiwis have a different impression. The image in UK also is not that good because of the Pakis. Blanket Judgements on all Aussies is very destructive, we saw in AP how a perfectly normal relationship between Andhras and Telanganas has now been reduced to mistrust and dislike because of the media's irresponsibility. | ||

This is a very complex issue. This could be a non-race related crime problem. We are also on weak moral grounds here, from a region in our own state we have Leaders and their followers Openly Giving Hate Speeches and Advocating Violence towards people from another region.
