Fourth Estate reporting should be responsible. If TV5 had reported the news on the website in a program with BOLD HEADLINES/BANNER - this program is based on fictional story published on xyz site and is not based on facts may be this confusion and reaction would have been avoided. Instead they chose to score Target Rating Points(TRP) ratings and made it as a sensational news rather than adding a BIG DISCLAIMER. The 50mins to 1 hr discussion that followed was responsible in creating more hype on this. The role of other channels TV9 and SAKSHI(who have a big reason to highlight this news) is also to be blamed. They just 'picked' up the news instead of verifying the veracity of it. SAKSHI news channel role shoud be thoroughly investigated as well in promoting this news both in its print as well electronic media and the editor and owner(JAGAN) booked. There is a prima facie evidence that he will be the most benefiting out of this whole episode and may be instigated all the events that have happened.
In Democracy freedom ends at the tip of your nose. When it comes in to public domain you cannot make a blank statement without proof and not expect consequences for it. As responsible members of the 4th Estate they have a responsibility to conduct themselves in much more restrained way while reporting the news. When a news article comes to their attention they are supposed to research it and then go with the news. TV5 could have made this whole news in to a special program and conducted a talk show and moderated it instead of flashing it as breaking news. This clearly smacks of the intent right there. What was JAGAN doing all the time? His channel was flashing the news left right and center and raising the tensions and he himself was silent about the whole news. He only made a statement towards late night by the time the damage was done. It clearly points to the fact that 'he might be the party who has instigated this whole thing' with the motive of causing more embarrassment to the already divided government and also stake a claim for the post of CM(by coercing the HC to give in to him).
