even if u r not a fan, u will LOVE the book...it is not like run of the mill sports auto biographies..it is like being there with him and travelling through the times..... an example of his honesty and his simplicity is this incident with PETE SAMPRAS: in 1994 (i forgot the tournaments name), moments before the FINAL betn the two legends, pete curled up on the floor because of food poisoning..andre had two choices..he could wait for a couple of hours OR he could accept the forfeit and be the WINNER of the tournament..he chose to wait.....and even worse, pete beat him in the final.. when his coach was pissed off with his decision..he said he did not deserve the trophy because he could not beat an injured pete..... | ||

what a book! i have about 100 pages to go and i already know i am gonna read it at least 10 times..charismatic book for a charismatic player.. my fav quote from the book: "Life throws everything except kitchen sink in our way. And then it throws the kitchen sink" the honesty in the book is simply unprecedented.....he acknowledges he used a hairpiece..and he was on drugs.....the way he used to curl up on floors in his friends places..his trauma....his rise as a phoenix..his vulnerability.....overall the book is so REAL.. hats off to the legend! you rock andre! |
