Yes, its the same kapila. Bhagavatha says kapila the son of kardama and Devahuti incites her mother in to yoga to worship vishnu. Its a bit complicated than that. It integrates the physical/cosmological evolution of universe with spiritual domain making it the most objective system of philosophical thought. Its in fact 21 elements starting from the mahat to tanmatras. Its an amazing system. Bhagavatha purana is an elaborate text encompassing almost all hindu concepts, but like other puranas which are skewed to glorify a particular god, bhagavatha also revolves around vishnu. Bhagavatha purana explains the creation of the universe from physical point of view which by itself was a great achievement of our ancestors. However, no ancient scripture whether it is Indian or foreign would come even closer to Samkhya of Kapila in explaining the spiritual and physical evolution of this universe. That was the most logical and comprehensive explanation of the secrets of cosmology till date which is why it is considered as the basic psychology of all the six hindu systems of philosophy.
