http://www.dailypioneer.com/225064/BJP-to-reach-out-to-under privileged-Gadkari.html Gadkhari moving in right direction BJP to reach out to underprivileged: Gadkari Pioneer News Service | New Delhi Newly-appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari has promised to bring about a significant âchangeâ in partyâs outlook, saying he will try to reach out to the underprivileged, SCs, STs and minorities with a ânew blend of politicsâ rooted in âsocial serviceâ and âgood governanceâ. Gadkari expressed concern over culture of sycophancy and growing indiscipline in the party while making clear that âperformanceâ will be rewarded. Gadkari asserted there should not be any discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, language and sects. He said the BJP will set up a mechanism for an internal performance audit to ensure good governance at every level where the party is in power and asked the cadre to be actively associated with at least one Vikas (development) and Seva (service) project in their area of work. âToday I would like to encapsulate my partyâs development philosophy in the following slogan: Nationalism is our inspiration. Development through good governance is our tool, and Antyodaya is our objective. Antyodaya means giving priority to the last person in the queue, the most deprived sections, including the SCs, STs, OBCs and other weaker sections,â Gadkari told reporters at his maiden Press conference after taking over as the BJP chief a couple of days back. Faced with a volley of questions on the partyâs ideological issues, he clarified there was no change in partyâs stand on Article 370 (special status to Jammu and Kashmir), Ram temple at Ayodhya and Uniform Civil Code. But he did not want to get into any debate on these issues. Gadkari, a management graduate who runs a network of businesses, claimed he would not tolerate indiscipline and promised to decentralise party set-up wherein leaders would get job not because of their proximity but performance. âI donât touch feet and would not appreciate any party worker doing that. Team spirit, mutual trust, discipline and determination would be centrestones of our functioning. The office-bearers should be like self-start engines who do not have to wait for orders,â Gadkari told reporters. He talked about âorganisational planningâ and âpolitical planningâ for expansion of partyâs base. This led to speculation about a âre-orientationâ and âclassificationâ of partyâs job wherein equal focus would be laid on âsocio-economic reformâ. Gadkari told party workers not to offer him flowers or garlands and instead offer the money spent on these article to Kisan Sahayata Kosh for the benefit of families of those farmers who have committed suicide. âMy goal is to see that the BJP emerges stronger in the next three years, both in States where it is traditionally well established and also in those States where it has so far a marginal presence. Simultaneously, the BJP will also strive to expand and consolidate the NDA as a robust platform for opposition unity. To achieve this goal, the first requirement is galvanisation of the party organisation at all levels. Striving for further geographical expansion of the party and making it further strong and unified âwill be my first priorityâ,â he said. Putting to rest all speculation about his getting lost in the âwoodsâ in Delhi, which has several veteran leaders, he said, âIn the last two days, I have experienced and I agree there are many senior leaders here. LK Advani and other leaders have assured they will stand behind me in support. I am not going to be pressurised.â He said âbona fide mistakesâ by workers were possible in politics but leaders were there to correct them. |
