Godavary Delta System (GDS) is an established old irrigation system in operation since 1862.
The old anicut was constructed by Sir Aurthur Cotton during 1857-62 which has served the delta

----------------
Srisailam
----------------
This is Hydro Electric Project constructed in deep gorge across
River Krishna at about 3 km from the famous Srisailam temple

Srisailam Right Bank Canal (SRBC)
Scheme was formulated to irrigate 1.90 lakh acres in Chronically famine striken
area of Kurnool (3 Taluk) and Kadapa (1 Taluks) districts of Rayalaseema Region.

Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC)
It is contemplated to provide Irrigation facilities in Drought prone areas of
Nalgonda District in addition to drinking water to fluoride affected villages enroute.
The Project is later renamed as Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project

After power generation, water from Srisailam reservoir flows to Nagarjuna Sagar project.
The balance water from left canal quota of Nagarjuna Sagar is 127 TMC feet of water.
The 127 TMC feet of water has to be supplied from Srisailam reservoir through a tunnel
to irrigate areas in Nalgonda and Khammam districts. Original plan of this is to dig a tunnel
through the hills and would provide the full amount of water to Nalgonda district

The project under the left bank canal utilizing 30 TMC feet of water under Bheema
lift irrigation is still not implemented. In addition to the existing deprivations.
Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Nalgonda district to irrigate around
1.20 lakh hectares utilizing 30 TMC feet of water.

The govt just discarded the experts opinions and instead of tunnels currently uses
pump sets to pump water to Nagarjunasagar this has reduced the amount of water
that can be used for irrigation. The water that could be used for reducing the floride
levels in Nalgonda is not available now.

----------------------
Thungabhadra stage1
---------------------
The Tungabhadra Project High Level Canal (TBP HLC) Stage-I contemplates to provide irrigation
facilities to an extent of 1.13 lakh acres in Anantapur and Kadapa Districts.

So far 1.13 lakh acres of Irrigation Potential has been created.
Ayacut irrigated during Khariff 2003-04 is 72,250 acres

-----------------------------
Thungabhadra lower level canal
-----------------------------

This project is to serve an ayacut of 1.51 lakh acres in Kurnool District.

-----------------------------
Vamsadhara
-----------------------------
The first stage of Barrage across Vamsadhara River at Gotta site is completed and is in operation.
Gotta Barrage was constructed during 1970-77 and the Irrigation was given to the ayacut
during the year 1977

Ayacut, under the Project

Khariff : 1.48 lakh acres

-----------------------------
Yeleru
-----------------------------

Yeleru Reservoir Project (YRP) envisages formation of earth dam across river
Yeleru to form a Reservoir near yeleswaram village in East Godavary Disrtict

Total ayacut under the Project

Khariff (In phase-1) :67,614 acres (stabilization)
