it will aid in crime investigations and other vehicle misuses. most of the cars that are used for bombing...will have either misleading number plates or stolen cars. | ||

to whom ? look at it objectively. theft insurance costs about 200-500 rs per year. And it is guaranteed that you will get your vehicle back. Why is this needed ? each vehicle 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler needs to get a new number plate that costs Rs 2500 . The total expense on the state is around 3000 crores. This could be used to finish a major irrigation project. These are the reasons govt is giving for it 1) Vehicle theft - The total value of vehicles stolen every year in our state is less than 10 crores. With this new plates, the expense is 3000 crores. That means for we are going to bear the expense of stolen vehicles 30 years up front. It is no guarantee that you will stop the stealing after that expense. They can just change the number plate and move the vehicle out of state. And it wont stop the biggest reason vehicles are stolen - For parts. 2) Naxals Problem - Naxals are hiding in forests. Where are you going to install tracking devices in forest areas ? Do you really think naxalites will use a number plate with tracking device even if they used a vehicle ? 3) Vehicles tracking - Again at what expense ? Why dont you just put a chip in people's body so you can track people also. They are paying your salaries as taxes and this is what you come up with to "track" them. Another way to look at it is one in every 20 vehicles WILL be stolen if you look at it expense wise. So to avoid 1 in 1000 vehicles being stolen you are incurring the expense of 1 in 20 vehicles.
