Less than two days after it promised to initiate the process of carving out Telangana, the Manmohan Singh government appeared to be baulking under the impact of a growing popular unrest in the coastal and Rayalseema regions of Andhra Pradesh. On a day in which more MLAs from the two regions put in their papers in protest against the Centre’s move, it appeared more likely that the issue would be put in the cold storage.
