Rosaiah returns, keeps silent After several rounds of negotiations with several leaders of the Congress high command in New Delhi, Chief Minister K Rosaiah returned to Hyderabad without uttering a word on Telangana. The final round of meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, where Congress core committee members Pranab Mukherjee, Chidambaram and Antony expressed their divergent views, ended without taking any decision on Telangana. And the Prime Minister asked Rosaiah to convince Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao to withdraw the fast. The Congress high command has apparently felt that the party would gain nothing if it granted separate state. On the other hand, it would only make KCR a hero. It also felt that nobody would like to die just like that and KCR is no exception. "We will take a decision when it suits us," the high command felt. |

Moving resolution in Assembly not enough: KCR's son Hyderabad, Dec 9 (PTI) K T Rama Rao, son of TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, tonight said moving a resolution in Andhra Pradesh assembly for creation of separate Telangana state was not enough and asked the Centre to introduce a bill in Parliament for this. He also said TRS would not accept Telangana without the inclusion of Hyderabad in it. A resolution in the state assembly would not be sufficient to create a state", Rama Rao said adding "the real effort is to bring a Bill in Parliament". While welcoming Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement late this evening that an appropriate resolution would be moved in the state assembly for creation of Telangana, the TRS's son hoped the Centre would introduce the Bill in Parliament. |

'Telangana overnight not possible' After a lot of dilly dallying, the Congress high command has dampened the spirits of Telanganites, stating that it is not possible to grant separate statehood to Telangana overnight. "Nobody can ask for Telangana with KCR's life at stake. It is just impossible. Our immediate concern is to make KCR withdraw his fast, but not granting Telagnana," AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhwi told media persons late in the night. He made it clear that the UPA had never promised to grant separate Statehood to Telangana. "In our Common Minimum Programme, we only said we would strive for a consensus on Telangana. That does not mean we will give it," Singhwi said. |
