Well, as usual i turned up 15 minutes late in to the theatre ... with a friend who is very disinterested about watching this movie ... I booked two tickets so i got to force him ... After reaching the taran fellow's review, i thought it was a very emotionally intense movie .. which apparently it was not .. The same director who directed cheeni •••, this movie is also very slow paced .. it does NOT have any over the top histrionics from any of the star cast .. it has very lighter vein dialogues, a slow paced narration, a very close capture of emotions and it is for those audience who love soft emotional movies ... if u take away the fact that the kid is a quickly aging problem, the story u would have seen in 100 tamil, telugu, hindi and what not language movies ... where a child is born when parents are seperated out and he builds bond with his dad not knowing that he is dad and eventually unites the parents ... but, but the treatment was pretty different ... the dialogues need a keen attention .. they are very lighter vein and add to the mood of the film .. you dont see amitabh bachan anywhere ... period .. the kid bears no resemblance to big b on screen .. his makeup is some what odd, a bit scary in some scenes, pitiable most of the times .. but then that is the character ... Jr B, i know there are lot of critics for him ... he has to bear the burden of the huge image that his dad carries around .. in this movie he is also first class ... on par with guru, sarkarraaj etc., vidya balan, in sarees looks really beautiful in this movie ... the modern/western attire that she tries to sport in other movies dont go well with her .. in this movie, she is really gorgeous ... acted welll ... paresh rawal, he is a top actor ... as always, he did well too ... another notable role in the movie is arundhati nag, the kid's grand mother .. she does well too ... all in all, it is a pretty watchable movie, if you have patience to watch a lighter wein family drama .. but dont go with expectations that big b is performing to get a oscar for this movie and all, that is pure media hype ... god's sake, big b did not try any over the top histrionics or intense potrayal of this character ... he just got in to the shoes of a kid, immaculately and makes us to believe that it is a kid with abnormality, as i said there is no big B in the movie as such, is what we feel ... kudos to the directory for not carrying away with his starcast .. and kept his own signature on the movie ... if not in theatre, you would LOVE to watch this on DVD atleast once ... |
