Changing mood to the Laugh part A hilarious poem - especially for the ones with OCD. Hypochondriac's Grace Dear Lord, we ask you if you will, put your blessing on this meal. We ask you Father, if it pleases, protect us from these new diseases. Please bless the spinach, and the romaine. And cleanse it of some lurking ptomaine. God, bless our ice cream and our cola. Pray it's not teaming with ebola. And pray the deli didn't sell us coleslaw ripe with salmonellus. We also ask a special blessing; no botulism in the dressing. While we regard your higher power, make sure the deviled eggs aren't sour. And please Lord, bless our sirloin tip, and purge it of E. Coli's grip. A special blessing on the sherry, oh Lord, we need no dysentery, so it not poisons, nor impacts, or liquefies our lower tracts. And Lord, make sure no one is able to get sick and die upon this table. So bless, Lord, all this food we share. Insure no deadly virus there. Telugubabu made a good point most of the devotees are God-fearing.. but if you look at mythology all the great bhaktas , none of them were God-fearing, they were God-loving, trusting in God, - "in love" with their personal God Whether it is Prahlada, Meera, Kabir or Surdas... That reminds me of story I heard in a discourse... Kabir and Surdas are in a discussion about their personals deities Rama and Kanhaiyya at a public forum ...and suddenly an elephant goes berserk and charges ... everyone runs and hides... including Surdas while Kabir stays put. A few minutes later the elephant is brought under control and Kabir asks Surdas... "Why did you get scared ? Your God is with you " And Surdas pulls out an idol of a Bala Murari answers... Couple of days ago in an old family run restaurant I saw a plaque stating the secret to a good life in a handful of words... Live, Love, Laugh and be thankful Reminded me of some poets thru time who have talked about the power of Universal Love Kabirdas: Pothi padh padh jag mua, pandit bhaya na koi Dhai akshar Prem ka Padhe to pandit hoi - Wisdom does not come from books but from feeling and understanding love for your fellow beings Rabindranath Tagore : "God asks for temples built of love and men bring stones " And my favorite contemporary poet : Gulzar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps8CU1p-Nqw Humne dekhi hai un aankhon ki mehakti khushboo, haath se chhoo ke ise rishton ka ilzaam na do sirf ehsaas hai ye, rooh se mehsoos karo pyaar ko pyaar hi rehne do, koi naam na do It reminded me of what I had said about love being of the soul and relationships and mode of expression being products of the intellect.. So took a little liberty translating the song not so much as a ode to romantic love but to the pure emotion of love - the soul connection Having seen the fragrance of life in those eyes, I pray Don't distort it with your hand or limit it in worldly relationships Its a clarion call to the inner self, feel it with your soul Let love remain unbounded, don't constrain it with names Love is not the words, nor is it the voice Its but a silence , that listens and speaks to the soul Never extinguishing,moving incessantly and with nary a stil moment Its a drop of respelendent light ,and has been flowing since eternity Open your soul feel that light flowing through you let that radiance light you from the inside unfettered and unbounded Once we let the light touch our soul...
