Sienfeld:

you dont need a ftp client. you can go to command prompt and then login by enter ftp <servername/ip>, enter your user-id and password

after successful login, enter 'pwd", it will print your present working directory. then go to directory where you want to go and get the file with the commands that i have posted earlier.

Sienfeld:

after loggin in to the server. switch to directory where the file is residing and enter the following command.

get <filename>
or
mget <filename>

the file will be copied over to your directory from where you have initiated the ftp process.

I have a remote server that i can RDP(Remote In) in from anywhere. I have a file on that machine that i need to copy to the local machine. Have an IP, a username and password. What do i need to do to FTP into that server(No FTP clients) using FTP from my local browser and get the file onto the local machine ?

ftp://username@xxx.yyy.zz.qq

In the remote server, do i need to put the file in a specific location with some special privileges.

Thanks a lot in advance guys.
