The demand for a CBI probe was also supported by Congress MPs V Hanumantha Rao and Madhu Yashki Goud, besides Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi and the Left parties. According to government records, 129 hectares was given on lease to OMC while there was clearance from the Ministry of Forests and Environment for only 78 hectares. Divisional Forest Officer of Anantapur issued showcause notices to OMC early this month.

HYDERABAD: Downcast that their leader is being completely sidelined by the state Congress, loyalists of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy are putting pressure on him to go on the offensive against the Rosaiah government.

"Despite meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi twice, the high command has not given any post to Jagan. He offered to campaign for the party in the GHMC polls but that too has been cold-shouldered. As a result, Jagan has no option but to step up the campaign against Rosaiah and others on the charge that the YSR legacy is being effectively scuttled by them. The confrontation between our leader and the CM on Tuesday is only the beginning," a Congress leader close to the Kadapa MP averred.

While Jagan did utilise the first opportunity he got to embarrass the chief minister at the meeting that Rosaiah had with MPs from the state on Tuesday, he is still said to be weighing his options as to how far he should go. "While most of his followers are hurt and angry with the way he is being treated by the high command, a few are urging restraint as any offensive against the Congress when it is firmly in grip at the Centre and many states can be very risky politically for the Kadapa MP," said a Jagan loyalist.

While the angry loyalists want him to launch an aggressive campaign immediately, some followers are telling him to wait till the winter session of the assembly is over and the candidate for the Pulivendula assembly by-election is announced. "By taking any drastic step at this stage, he should not jeopardise the chances of his mother getting the ticket," is the advice of the cautious loyalists.

But the indication from both the groups within the Jagan camp is that there is no chance of the state Congress being one happy family again.
