If we look at the various animal/bird vahanams of the Gods.. if we look at the stories like Sri Kala Hasti.. Yes they as good as Man spiritually..
On a different note.. it could well be that animals and birds are the original species that belong to Earth.. Man was implanted from outside.. even today animals and birds live naturally on earth.. while Man lives artificially by exploiting the surroundings.. Man just does not belong to earth naturally... |

To all those who contributed for this discussion. I thank you but I could not participate due to bad internet connection. After reading all the posts, my mind got struck as to where is this discussion leading... can anyone answer my questions:
1. Do animals pray ? who is their god ? Is their god and our god one and same ?
2. Do animals have soul ? Human beings are born from animals, so when human beings have soul why cant animals have it ?
3. If animals have soul then will that soul transfer from one birth to another after its death ? When a human beings soul be transferred and transformed to animals after death depending on their karma will the same logic apply to animals also ?
4. What is the duty of soul ? If intellect judges whats right or wrong then what is meant by "ATHMA VIMARSA" in english reality check (nothing but soul check)
According to me there is nothing called soul. Soul is the mirror image of your brain. What soul says is already there in your brain its just that man thinks that its his soul search. Soul is that impure, invisible,immaterial thing which we can never feel. there is no judgment done by soul. Spirituality is purification of brain and not soul.
Then comes the critical question what is "SOUL" these are various meanings in the dictionary
1.The animating and vital principle in humans, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion and often conceived as an immaterial entity.
2. The spiritual nature of humans, regarded as immortal, separable from the body at death, and susceptible to happiness or misery in a future state.
3. The disembodied spirit of a dead human.
4. A human: "the homes of some nine hundred souls" (Garrison Keillor).
6. A person considered as the perfect embodiment of an intangible quality; a personification: I am the very soul of discretion.
9. A strong, deeply felt emotion conveyed by a speaker, a performer, or an artist.

I think they saw something I did not - hence their perspective is different from mine and each other's
Truth is pathless makes complete sense to me from an Advaitic point of view as I explained earlier
UG takes it a little further and says there is no truth- If I look at truth as an entity external to me - does such a separate, non-relative entity exist ? Who knows? What I see is totally my perception - my truth may be different from yours - so what is the Absolute Truth ?
