ANANTAPUR: The three-member committee appointed by Mines and Geology Department to look into the violations taking place in the iron ore mining areas of Anantapur district has reportedly found that Obualapuram Mining Company has stocked ores of HM, MBTs companies of Karnataka without permit in its dump yards in the district.

The committee today visited several mines in Obulapuram and Siddapuram and also examined the boundaries.

The team visited the mines in Antharganga area yesterday.

The officials went to the yards and examined the ores stocked in them. They took details of the ore stocked and where they are being mined.

The committee also visited railway stockyards of VGM, MBT, OMC and BOIC companies.

OMC Managing Director Srinivasa Reddy accompanied the committee.

With the Parliament meeting on November 19 and the Opposition parties will certainly push for a CBI probe.

It is learnt that the BJP will play the role of a mute spectator as it would like to tame the Gali brothers who had very recently threatened to pull down the BJP Government in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, the Congress and the UPA in general might not be opposed to the demand for a CBI probe. By ordering a CBI probe it would also tame the supporters of the Jagan camp, who allegedly have close links with the Gali brothers and had gone overboard after the death of YSR demanding that Jagan be made the chief minister.

It's an uneasy truce. Yeddyurappa is a wounded tiger. He and his followers will not keep quiet for long. Moreover, Andhra is tightening the noose around the Reddys. Lokayukta Santosh Hegde is ready with his report on illegal mining in Bellary.

Back home, Yeddyurappa was trying to consolidate his position in North Karnataka, where the Reddy brothers wielded enormous influence. He first asked the Centre to initiate a survey of mining areas in the region. The Lokayukta too was inquiring into the activity. And when floods devasted vast areas in North Karnataka, he imposed a toll on trucks carrying ore. The aim was to hit the brothers hard on the finance front. He didn't call the brothers when the Prime Minister visited the flood-hit areas. Launched Asare, a PPP project to build houses for the flood-hit, without involving the brothers. Shunted out bureaucrats who were close to them.

But the timing of Reddy brothers' rebellion rings a bell. It started immediately after the sudden death of Andhra strongman Y S Rajashekhar Reddy and the failure of his son Jagan Reddy to succeed him as CM. The Reddy brothers were close to this family and it helped them expand their mining business. Sons of a policeman, the two rose from small-time businessmen to mining czars, thanks mainly to YSR family's support. K Rosaiah, who took over as CM in AP, started tightening the screws on all those who were close to YSR. It included Jagan, who rebelled against him, and the Reddy brothers. He ordered a probe into their mining business. This seems to have unnerved the Reddy brothers.

Meanwhile, two Congress MPs G V Harsha Kumar of Amalapuram and Madhu Yashki Goud from Nizamabad demanded a CBI probe into the activities of Gali Janardhan Reddy. Harsha Kumar said that Gali was behaving like a "villain" and said that he would raise the issue during the winter session of the Parliament. Madhu Yashki alleged that Reddy had launched an anti-Sonia campaign when she contested from Chikmaglur.
