Regarding Telugu population, I had the same intention, but later I was convinced that given any time not more than 11% of Chennai would make up Telugu population. If not percentage wise, by count wise there might be more Telugu poeple lived in Chennai, nonetheless I've not heard of 3year long run of a movie. Devadasu ki scene undi undachu .. kaani that should not be surprising at all .. bcos .. Chennai in 1953 (Devadas release year) had 60% telugu population ! and ofcourse, I cannot verify whether it ran for 3 years or not .. but telugu movies running for so long in Chennai .. in that era is very normal ! lastly .. Purnodaya vaallu oka interview lo chepparu .. Telugu print ni as it is ga run cheste Shankarabharanam collected 1 Crore rupees in 1 release .. that it is a record and that itself covered the entire cost of the movie several times ! Shankarabharanam is a massive hit according to me. Pride of telugu cinema and culture .. all over India chala manchi response vachindi .. it is somewhat followed by "Shiva". Amol Palekar movies, some Amitabh, Rajesh Khanna, Dharam paaji movies, movies like Aandhi .. Shashi Kapoor made some good movies .. Telugu lo kooda we had KV movies, some Krishna movies (where he does like a farmer) and then konni Chandra Mohan lanti non-star actors movies untayi .. kakapothe popular culture valla loudness anedi main fashion ayyindi anedi matram nijam .. incidentally that marked the birth of "American Culture" in International arena!
